I always get so stumped in what to write in these things, but here it goes…
2017 was one of the most empowering years of my life.
I traveled across the country by myself to attend Mystic Seminars and Gabe McClintock’s workshop. There, I met many of the photographers that I look up to in the industry, and even made a few friends. Which led me to attend Abby Plus Dave’s Photo Synthesis Workshop in April. Calgary is breathtaking.
I spent weekends adventuring with friends to York, Maine; Provincetown, Massachusetts; and Miami, Florida – to name a few. My cousins and I ventured to Foxboro, Massachusetts to see a Kenny Chesney concert and Essex Junction, Vermont to see Pentatonix in the rain. I went to New York City to see Wicked on Broadway (highly recommend!).
One of my best friends had a little boy – whom I love so so much!
I had the most incredible couples for weddings and couples sessions this year. I pushed myself creatively and fell in love with photography all over again.
I let go… I let go of things that had weighed on me for years. I said “Yes” to things that normally scared me. I started reading again – for fun. I stopped living how I thought I was supposed to live and started living for what made me happy.
While there was so much good in 2017, there was also heartbreak. I lost the love of my life. It’s amazing how much an animal can have an impact on your life. I love and miss you every day, Riley. You’ll always be in my heart.
To 2018: I look forward to all of the adventures you will bring.
